Room 18 have been learning dance using space, levels and tempo. Thanks to the help of Whaea Molly and Whaea Fran along with several students who contributed to certain sections of the dance, where sports movements like bouncing a basket ball and popping your collar then flicking into an imaginary hoop were taken on board and
used in the routine.

Room 23 shared their talents even though they were nine dancers short. Those who did share had to learn a new routine on the day of the performance. Congratulations Mrs LydiaDunbar and students on the effort put into each groups dance.

KRS Senior Swim Day

KRS Swimming Day at Massey Park Pools
Last Thursday most of the Senior Syndicate went to Massey Park pools in Papakura. It took us 30 minutes to walk there.
Before we went though, we had to place Destiny, Paris and Joey into a class for the day because they did not bring their togs. They went to Mrs. Bloomfield’s class with twelve worksheets to do.
On the way to the pools Mike used his hands for road patrol signals to stop the cars while we walked across the pedestrian crossing.
We finally got to the pools. We were the last to arrive and all the other seniors were settled in. Mrs K. Smith called room 19 and room18 to go and get changed at the changing rooms. When we were all dressed in our togs we got told to get in the pool three classes at a time.
Mrs K. Smith told room 18, room19 and room3 to get into the pool and have a free swim for about five minutes. When the time was up I got out and put some sunscreen on. I told my friend to rub it on my back.
Mrs L. Smith got into the pool with the children that could not swim really well.
Room 18 won the relay races at the end.

KRS Lip Synching Competition

Lip Synching Competition
On Friday 6th March at 10:40am in the morning the Senior Syndicate went to the hall to see the Lip Synching Competition so Mr Oakey and Miss Dunbar could pick who were the best lip synchers.
The people were Makayla, Rose and Kayla. Their group was called KRS Girls. Lily, Wendy and I were in another group called SWL which were the initial letter of our first names. Another group was called Old Skool and in that group were Shar, Joseph, Kingi, Quinton, Karnvir, Tyson and Ben.
The other person was Jayden. He was doing it by himself. His group was called JJ Rocker.
JJ Rocker went up first and rocked his way to win. His song was called Everything. Everyone clapped for him. SWL came next and they sang ‘Ain’t No Mountain High Enough’.
I got nervous and started getting red in the face because my wig kept clinging to it. Old Skool was next up. Their beat started off wrong but they carried on. They were alright. After them were the KRS Girls and they sang Kiss Me Thru The Phone.
When everyone had finished singing we went and sat on the stage steps. Mr Naidoo told us to get changed quickly, so we did.
Mr Oakey announced the winners. In 2nd place were the KRS Girls. They got a yo-yo prize each. In 1st place was JJ Rocker. He won a microphone. You have to plug it into a radio and talk through it then you’d hear yourself speaking. We all got a chocolate bar each.
It was Kelvin Road School’s first lip synching competition. All of us had a really good time.
